Thank You to the Front Line Workers

  |     |   Community

While most of us are being told to stay home and stay safe, there are front-line heroes in our community that don’t have that luxury. These are the people putting themselves at risk for our well-being. We want to take a moment to thank those who are helping to keep our community going, keeping us safe and looking out for others. This extends beyond health care workers and includes cleaning staff, grocery store workers, delivery services and all other essential workers.

We’ve included some easy tips on how we can show some love to our front-line heroes:

Health care workers

Let’s give a big round of applause to those working to keep us healthy – literally! On Wednesdays at 6:30, groups of people across the city stand on their balconies, front lawns and porches to cheer as loudly as they can for the health care workers.

Beyond showing your love through cheers, you can also send a brown bag lunch to a health care worker through Pure Kitchen. When you order online from the plant-based restaurant, you have an option to purchase a lunch for a health care worker. They will see that it gets delivered and into the hands of a hungry health care hero.

Grocery store employees

No matter what the situation of the world, people need food and we are so fortunate to have brave souls who are in and out of the grocery stores everyday to ensure we can all eat. They are working hard to sanitize the checkout counter, carts and to keep people six feet apart. We encourage our residents to say a special thank you when they are leaving the grocery store. Perhaps even purchasing a gift card for an employee or writing a small note of thanks could put a smile on someone’s face.

Cleaning staff

Cleaning staff are going above and beyond to keep everyone safe and healthy. These people are working harder than ever to keep things clean and to reduce the spread of germs. We have seen it firsthand in our buildings and we thank them. If you see a cleaning staff member in your building, we encourage you to thank them. Same as the grocery store employees, a handwritten note or a gift card can go a long way.

Delivery services

Delivery is one of the safer options right now, but what does that mean for the people who are delivering our products? While we stay safe at home, someone has to get those products and bring them to us – and for that, we are so thankful. There is a new delivery service in town that keeps money in the restaurants pockets and uses a designated driver service to deliver food, Love Local. Love Local ensure the drivers are paid and the money stays in the community. We encourage you to use this service! No matter what service you use though, please always tip your delivery person, give them six feet of space when they are dropping things off, and say thank you.

Thank you to all our front-line workers who are striving to keep this world moving and safe for all of us. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
